I’m Melanie Jayne. I’m married with two grown up boys. A few years ago I developed chronic back pain with some complications that meant I could not work in an office anymore. Sewing became my solace. Some friends saw the bags I made and asked me to make them something unique, so I did. I can’t spend a long time sewing, about 20 minutes at a time and so I only make 2 or 3 bags a month, and I never make two bags the same, so you can be sure that you will have something no-one else will have.
My Sewing History.
I have been machine sewing since I was about 4 years old. I love making things, the sense of achievement when you look at something you have created is wonderful. A couple of years ago my mum bought me a Janome CXL301 sewing machine for my birthday. It was a darling machine to work with. It even had a gadget for helping to thread the needle. I mostly made clothes at this time and when I started making bags I found the machine lacked the necessary power.
I bought a Janome 5270QDC which has a wide range of decorative stitches as well as a basic alphabet and I had lots of fun with this machine. Most of the bags shown on the site were made with this but I still felt it lacked some power and so I have upgraded again to a Janome Memory Craft 6700 Professional machine, and gifted the 5270QDC to my mum.
What things have I made?
The store has images of things I have made for people. I am not a photographer, and when I started making bags I didn’t think that the pictures would be needed for a website, so please forgive the awful nature of the images! After my mum retired we decided to start making things for Christmas markets and so we also make jumpers, dresses, pyjamas and dressing-gowns for children. Over the next few months I will also be adding soft toys to the website. These toys will carry the UKCA safety mark that is required by law and means you can feel confident that you are buying toys that are safe for your young ones.
